Favorites From #HWInteriors: Best Of 2021

As we (very gratefully) bring 2021 to a close, we took a moment to reflect upon some of our favorite spaces this past year. We were so fortunate to be able to finish a number of projects despite the supply chain obstacles facing our industry. The past couple of years has been increasingly challenging as we work toward the new normal and adjusting expectations across the board. We know we are so blessed to have the most wonderful (and understanding!) clients who manage to make even the most difficult projects a pleasure.

We have several more in the works that we can’t wait to photograph once all the final pieces trickle in, but in the meantime here is a quick look at our favorite spaces that we finished in 2021 for your daily dose of inspiration.

1) Kitchen | Palm Beach Waterfront >>

No project this year was as much of a star for us as our Flagler Build, which we were so fortunate to work on with one of our favorite longstanding clients. Designing this functional, family friendly and beautiful kitchen was a labor of love. This kitchen has two dishwashers and two Galley sink workstations in addition to the most gorgeous backsplash, soothing blue double islands and gorgeous brass pendants. The porcelain countertops by Sapienstone are the gorgeous but practical finishing touch to this forever favorite.

Beautiful subtle marble in complimentary sizes and shapes brings interest to this soothing master bath retreat in gorgeous Puerto Rico. The stunning mosaic backsplash and noteworthy light fixtures by Apparatus highlight the practical wall mount faucets and concealed Robern medicine cabinets. As always, as we strive for form and function and we felt like we nailed it with this serene primary retreat.

As many of you know, Heather and I are all about the laundry room. With seven kids and four dogs between us, laundry is something we definitely know a thing or two about. We consider a beautiful laundry room a necessity- Even the most mundane chore can be more fun if you surround yourself with beautiful fixtures like this well appointed laundry we designed from the 2021 Kips Bay Palm Beach Show House. We utilized a custom tile design, incredible hand bleached walnut cabinetry for storage galore, and brass fixtures in our bespoke dog shower. The only thing missing from this beauty is a champagne bar to make laundry even more enjoyable.

Nothing is as prevalent nowadays as the home office was in 2021. We turned this flex space up a notch by having some fun with a killer wallpaper and oversized pendant to highlight the substantial desk and utilized a custom storage sofa (templated to fit perfectly in the oddly-shaped room) to maximize capacity in an otherwise small space. We envision our client making lots of power moves being made in this bold space in the coming year.

Few color combinations are as perpetually overlooked as the dependable black and white when it comes to elevating your living spaces. For a modern twist on the traditional, we utilized a black shiplap on the fireplace juxtaposed with a creamy white linen on the walls. The star of this room is definitely the ceiling, otherwise known as the fifth wall and a great place to add some interest if you are keeping the rest of the room monochromatic. In this case we used this gorgeous textural palm frond wallpaper by Phillip Jeffries to draw your eye up to this stunning chandelier. Simple sculptural chairs surround this oversized round table (our vote for lively dinner conversation is always round!) and a cozy bench seat layered with beautiful linens finish off this unique entertaining space.

Living Rooms are under-utilized in our opinion. Many people stick a lot of uncomfortable formal furniture in there and then proceed to ignore that room for the majority of the year. We prefer to take a more family friendly approach to the living room. We utilize cozy performance fabrics that can stand up to entertaining wear and tear (we are practical whenever possible!), comfy seating groupings and lots of table space for setting down hors d'oeuvres and a cocktail during a party. In this favorite room of ours, we used a super fun and functional swivel sofa that allows your guests to be a part of multiple conversations if they choose.

No room has gotten as much traction for us this year as this gorgeous powder bath we designed for our waterfront Flagler project. We absolutely adore this gorgeous marble floating vanity paired with a stunning complimentary wallpaper and wall mount fixtures. An asymmetrical chandelier brings balance to the deliberately off centered long vanity, and the herringbone floor detail is the perfect finishing touch for this stunning powder bath.

Our Flagler project wins again for our favorite outdoor space of 2021. Not much can beat the location, but this client was particularly adamant about making sure her family had plenty of seats with a view for lots of family R&R time. We were able to incorporate these lovely hanging swings adorned with tons of comfortable custom outdoor pillows in colors we wove throughout this waterfront beauty. I personally cannot think of a better place to have my morning coffee or my evening wine!

2021 was a YEAR and we are so happy to see it drawing to a close. We hope you’ll continue to follow along with us as we unveil some new projects we’ve been working on and continue to bring you design inspiration in 2022. Lots of love and best wishes for a happy and healthy New Year,

Lisa & Heather
